i get to help wonderful couples make their dreams of having a family come true + i have the pleasure of making new friends along the way.
i am one of those lucky donors that doesn't have the negative effects from the hormones, we're talking up to the day of my retrieval (both times in connecticut) i ran the mile to the monitoring clinic + back to the hotel again. 2 miles a day without any pain or discomfort. (p.s. don't do that! ovarian torsion could occur, super painful i have heard. obviously i didn't pay attention to that part of the briefing, oops!)
my first intended parents (IP's) set a precedent i doubt anyone will be able to follow.
we skyped, we emailed, we texted, we face timed, we talked on the phone.
when my boyfriend + i got into norwalk, ct, they drove from their home in boston + stayed in the hotel with us. they even brought their adorable shiba inu kona!
they took us out to dinner a couple times, toured us all around NYC + made sure we got the taxi experience. both times after they left to go back home they bought a fancy dinner at the hotel for us as a gift.
we're going with them to quebec early next year, and france probably thw following year. we text regularly + they have become fast friends whom i adore!
being an egg donor has been awesome because not only am i helping families + making new friends, but i am also getting to travel and experience new places, which is something i have been craving for years.
so far this year i have been to ct + ny twice, to mexico once, hawaii once, moab, + california. i may even get an oregon trip or two in before the end of the year, which will be lovely.
it's been an awesome year of traveling + working on my relationships.
